When Marc and Lieke finished their studies, the goal was to find a job that would fit well with their backgrounds. Lieke first enjoyed her trip through Asia, while Marc took the plunge almost immediately. Both eventually ended up at the same place, GoSoniq. Where they work together, but both in their own way, toward one goal: Becoming a Salesforce Consultant. In this blog, Marc and Lieke tell us how they ended up here and how they experienced their first period at GoSoniq.

The first step

“I was looking for a challenge and a job that ties in with my studies in Business Administration. When I saw GoSoniq's vacancy for the Salesforce Consultant Traineeship passing by, I thought: I want to know more about this.” Tells Lieke, who already had some experience with Salesforce from her previous job. Marc, however, had never worked with it before. “I knew what a CRM was, but I didn't know Salesforce itself yet. What appealed to me is that in this position, you can give targeted advice. I also find the communication and analytical aspect a big plus, as well as the interfaces with my studies in International Business.”

During the application process, Marc and Lieke found out what the traineeship would entail and how GoSoniq works. Marc says: “The team explained everything to us so well during the interviews that we did not face any surprises and our first working day could start right away. Any nerves were very quickly dispelled by the nice and open atmosphere on the shop floor.” Lieke: “It actually went exactly as I had hoped. I am still pleasantly surprised with the nice atmosphere and the colleagues who are always there for you when you have questions.”

The first few weeks

In the first weeks, Marc and Lieke got fully acquainted with their new position and everything that comes with it. Marc: “At first we mainly got a lot of explanation about Salesforce and GoSoniq. Now we're working on assignments that tie in with practice. These are, for example, questions or cases that have previously come along at GoSoniq.” Lieke adds: “Today we had the assignment to put the right data into a recruitment application. We ended up building an entire recruitment flow. With these assignments, our team really just wants to see what you can already do, you don't have to do it perfectly right away.”

For now, the goal is to get the Salesforce admin certificate. This shows that you can configure, manage and optimize Salesforce. “This is what we are working toward by watching along with colleagues and picking up more and more simple things. In a while we will get responsibility for customers together with another colleague. And so we are quietly building up to the role of Salesforce consultant.”

This is something they are both looking forward to. Marc: “I am most looking forward to the contact with customers. To help them with different questions and problems with the knowledge I will gain here.” Lieke: “For me it's really contributing to different improvements at customers. Thinking along about what they need and then finding the right solution together.”

Working at GoSoniq

So far, the experience of both Marc and Lieke is positive. Lieke: “The colleagues have a big part in this. They make sure you feel at ease and also often ask us for feedback about the traineeship. We work well together to make the experience enjoyable and educational for both sides.” Marc: “For me, the flexibility is also very nice. You really have ownership of your own work and learning process here. Because of this approach, the work gives me a lot of energy.”

The trust that Marc and Lieke were given from the beginning has helped them feel at home and in control of their own learning process. Lieke: “At first it seemed like a bit of a leap of faith, but I'm glad I did it. I would advise new trainees to just let it all come to you. Because of the short lines of communication and good contact with the rest of the team, you will find your way.”
