How Martin continues to grow as a CRM consultant

As one of the first trainees, Martin entered GoSoniq three years ago. He had never worked with Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics CE before, but took the plunge anyway. In the meantime, he has seen himself and the company grow and has completely found his niche. In this blog, Martin talks about his time at GoSoniq so far and shows that he is far from done learning.
Started as a trainee
I ended up at GoSoniq because of Daniel. I knew him from my previous work and we are still colleagues now. I met him and he told me about his work at GoSoniq. That's when I applied for the job. I already managed a number of software packages at my old job and I wanted to do more with them. The technical aspect appealed to me. The traineeship CRM-consultant was the combination between my studies in international business and IT that I was looking for.
It was a bit of a gamble, but after the interviews I decided to take my chances and it worked out well for me. In the beginning I was mainly immersed in theory and gradually I took on more and more projects, first together with a colleague but after a while more and more on my own. Then you notice the difference between theory and practice. You only really start to understand it when you work with the various systems for a bit longer. I soon noticed that I was given a lot of freedom to pick up things that I found interesting. For example, for a while I did a lot with PowerBI, which was in demand and I found it interesting. Then it is very nice that you get the chance to develop yourself in that area.
From small to large projects
When I started, GoSoniq had not existed for very long. We were still working on fairly small projects back then. We got bigger every year, and after about a year and a half we got really bigger clients with ambitious projects. For me, this growth meant that the challenge never diminished. In the beginning we did mostly functional projects, but more and more technical projects were added. That means there is now more choice for consultants. For example, there is room to build API connections between different platforms or even build in code. I can make it as challenging as I want. Even if your interest is not in the technical part, there are always other projects you can take up.
A great example of a large project is that we built a field service for a housing association, with which they are making part of their 50,000 homes more sustainable. As a consultant, I have a lot of contact with customers. It is very motivating for me to see that a customer is enthusiastic about something we have created. You build up a better and better relationship with the customer, you understand each other better and better, and as a result you get more and more interesting projects.
Why GoSoniq
The social aspect is a big advantage for me. I like working in a friendly team, where you can spar well with each other when necessary. I have found that at GoSoniq. Here I really experience the advantages of a small and close team with short lines of communication. At the same time, I also have the advantages of a large company. After all, GoSoniq is part of BlueGem, which includes five other companies. Especially with Enshore we work together a lot and we share an office with Warpnet and Nestor security. That makes you have more colleagues to spar with, but it also brings conviviality.
The social aspect also comes up again in the contact with customers. For me it is especially nice that we work with international clients. I myself am fully responsible for three clients, one of which is completely English-speaking and one of which is partially English-speaking. It suits my interests well and I find that it adds another layer of variety to the communication with clients.
The fact that the gamble to start the traineeship worked out well for me is largely due to GoSoniq itself. I find challenge enormously important, and I continue to find that here. New projects come up frequently, giving me the chance to do things I haven't done before. As a result, I get the chance to learn a lot. I already have certain certification within Microsoft Dynamics, but I would like to get the next ‘level’ in that as well. There is plenty of room for that at GoSoniq.
I would advise new trainees to ask lots of questions. There is no such thing as stupid questions. You can learn so much from colleagues and by being present a lot you can immerse yourself in all the knowledge. Everyone is always willing to help and answer questions.
